GALVESTON.COM: Artist Boat Summer ECO and Eco-Art Camps
Art meets science in Artist Boat’s 2022 Summer Camp sessions. Campers will experience true scientific and artistic enrichment with the creation of Eco-Art and exploration of the Artist Boat Coastal Heritage Reserve.
Explore the wetland environment around Galveston Bay in a human-powered vessel and on nature walks! Learn to kayak with quick-start skills from the American Canoe Association: rescue skills, how to handle the weather, trip planning and more. Learn to seine and practice different fishing techniques such as cast net and crab. Each camper will be able to make their own personal pizza in our outdoor classroom!

- Camp sessions are $375 per week
- Ages: 11 to 15 years old

Each camper will create high quality art projects and explore like a young naturalist. Every day is a different theme. Come alone or come all!

June 6-10, 2022: Wacky Swamps
Do you like playing in the mud? Join us for an exciting day of exploring the creatures and features of coastal wetlands. Students can mold animal tracks and make their own clay tile cast.
June 13-17, 2022: Watch it bloom!
There are so many brightly colored flowers to discover on land and sea! Students will discover the flowers of the meadow, the corals of the ocean and will create their own colorful and flowery projects!
June 20-24, 2022: Keep our seas plastic-free
Marine debris is one of the biggest problems facing our world’s oceans today! Students will beautify a bucket for Galveston’s beaches and participate in a marine debris art contest.
June 27 – July 1, 2022: Great ornithological adventure
We will provide the binoculars. Birds abound here and participants will explore and paint like John James Audubon. Students will take home a portrait of a bird and a birdhouse.
July 11-15, 2022: Fun Fishing Adventure
Spend the day fishing with us! We will learn different fishing techniques such as seine nets, casting nets and crab fishing! Students will also learn the ancient art of fish printing and dissect a perch.
July 18-22, 2022: Painting like Van Gogh
Van Gogh was famous for his fresco landscape paintings. Students will learn about the famous artist and discover the joys of painting outdoor landscapes and creating nature journals.
July 25-29, 2022: Big Bug Week
They may be small, but they are great fun. That’s right, we love learning about prairie bugs! We’ll spend the week catching these creatures and finding out why they’re so important. Students will take home a bug shack and insect sculpture of their own!
August 1-5, 2022: Gulf of Mexico Mania
There are so many fun creatures to discover that live in the Gulf of Mexico. Sharks and whales, jellyfish and turtles, and much more! Students will learn all about the creatures of the gulf and take home a painted portrait of a native species.
